Blackjack StrategiesBlackjack has always been a game of mathematics and pure luck. Experts and professional players all over the world have experienced both the best and the worst when it comes to playing. Over time they have come up with a list of basic strategies that only requires a little analysis and basic math. These basic strategies are translated in simple English for everyone to understand. Understanding and practicing these tips can improve your game tremendously. To review our terms: Hard Hand is two starting cards that do not have an ace. A Soft Hand is when one of your starting hands contains an ace. "Otherwise" means the strategy you must do if you have more than two cards. To hit is to add another card. To double involves your bet; you can bet twice as your original bet. When you stand, it means that you think your cards are good enough to challenge the dealer. Split happens when you have a pair, or two cards of the same rank. With this you'll be handling two hands with an additional bet. Ok, now that we know our terms, let's get started. In case of a hard hand, if you have two cards that add up to eight or less, the best decision is to hit. Double is the best strategy if you have two cards adding up to nine, ten and eleven. If the dealer has an ace, hit right away. Otherwise, double first, and then make a hit. If your cards add up to 13 to 21, Stand is the best thing to do. An ace can be used as one or eleven. If you have an ace and any card between two to six, double. If your cards add up to 18, you can stand, but careful if the dealer has a card from 3 to 6. In the two former strategies, if you can't double, hit. If your cards add up to 19 or 20, just your luck! Stand! In case of a pair, the first thing to do is to check the dealer's cards. If you have a pair of twos, threes, fours, sixes, sevens, eights and nines, it's best to split your cards if the dealer has a card from two to nine. However, if you have a pair of fives, you can double if the dealer has a card from two to nine. If you have a pair of tens, which add up to twenty, you can be confident enough to stand. These things may seem to be hard to memorize, but if in case the worst scenario happens, it is recommended that you TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS. It works. |
